Infrastructure
European infrastructure that keeps everyday life moving – from the renewable energy and transition assets shaping our portfolios today to the utilities, networks and transport systems we’ve financed, built and managed across Europe for decades.
A broad infrastructure foundation
Across KGAL, decades of structuring, financing and managing essential infrastructure have given us the relationships, technical insight and regulatory experience to recognise and act on opportunities across Europe’s wider infrastructure landscape.
-

Energy transition
Investing in the assets driving Europe’s shift to a low-carbon energy system.
-

Essential utilities
The systems that keep everyday life running: power generation, grids, water, waste, district heating and cogeneration.
-

Transport & mobility
The assets that keep people and economies moving, from vehicle leasing and rail to shipping.
-

Social & digital infrastructure
The places and networks that connect communities – from airport assets and cultural landmarks to broadcasting and telecom infrastructure.
Investing in the energy transition value chain
Since 2003, we’ve been at the forefront of renewable investing in Europe – backing energy-transition assets across their full lifecycle, from core to value-add, and helping turn long-term change into lasting investment opportunity.

Our European Infrastructure portfolio
Investing for the future
The infrastructure Europe relies on
We have financed infrastructure since long before it became an asset class. In public-private partnerships with cities and utilities: Berlin’s gas network, Munich’s subway trains and its cultural center, combined heat and power plant, wastewater treatment, tram fleets. For corporations: airport center, football stadium for seventy thousand, airline headquarters, broadcasting studios, shipping and vehicle fleets. Different assets, one approach: structuring long-term cash flows to create value for public and private capital. That experience is what we have brought to renewable energy and the energy transition since 2003.

Building markets and assets
At Tuscania, north of Rome, we developed and built Italy’s largest privately financed solar park (148 MW), supplying a leading Italian utility under a long-term agreement. We stand on fifteen years of work in Italy, the same way we have built our renewable energy markets across Europe since 2003. We enter early, work hands-on with local partners, and access projects at the stages and in the markets that deliver value.

And investing in the businesses that support such assets
Alongside power generation and energy transition assets, we invest in businesses across Europe that create them. Originating access to sites, securing permits and grid connections, and carrying projects to the point where they can be built. Our capital and our European reach accelerate their growth. In return, our investors gain early access to a pipeline of projects, from first plans to operation, and a view of what the energy transition will need next. Value created for our investors, our partners and the energy system.
